Despite a very cold December in large parts of North America and Asia, 2009 will still go down as the second warmest year ever, and the warmest in the southern hemisphere. Even the northern hemisphere was warmer than ever before in several areas in December, notably the tropics and the far Arctic, where temperatures have been as much as 15F above normal, and in a few areas, ice has been actually MELTING - in midwinter!
By The Way - total Ice for the Globe hit a new record low over the last few days, and the global temp a few days ago was the warmest Jan 13th ever recorded - preliminary calculations show this will be the warmest January, and predictions are that 2010 will set new Global records...
